MAG Preview
|
|
MAG, the 256 players online FPS , exclusive to PS3 consoles, its one of the most of anticipated games for the PS3 and over the past month they have given a selected few the chance to take part in the MAG beta. Fortunately I am one of the few and have been playing the beta every time the I have a chance; here is a small preview, from OG.
When I first heard about MAG and it huge 256 player battles, one word popped into my head, lag. The first thing I noticed when I entered my first battle as a Raven grunt, there actually was no lag. I was running about, throwing grenades, fire random shots from my assault riffle and there was no slow down at all. Then my first chance to grab my first kill came and even then I managed to down my enemy with ease with a few short bursts of fire .
After my initial excitement another thought dawned on me, what am I supposed to exactly? There is chaos all around me, bodies scattered everywhere and I have no clue as to what my objective is. Thankfully in my squad of 8, our squad leader was very vocal across the comms and very helpful, and I wasn’t the only person who was rather green on the battlefield that day and thanks to him we finally found our feet and get on with the defensive mission in hand.
After a few games I really started to realise that MAG has the potential to be something special. This game is going to challenge the big guns in the online FPS world, this game is going to be yet another exclusive flagship for the PS3 and this game most certainly is going to be a must buy for any gamer.
I don’t want to reveal in depth any of the game play mechanics in MAG as I don’t want to spoil anything, and I’m not quit sure if I’m allowed to do so, but I will say this. It’s a online only FPS, it can support up to 256 players in one game, it doesn’t lad, its great fun to play and very addictive and yes, contrary to some people views on this game, it does work!
